Pablo Arias Garcia. Picture Finland

The picture you can see here was taken in Huittinen, on a very special day: September 30th. At first the visit to the Town Hall and reception with the Mayor hadn’t seemed a very exciting plan but I have to admit it was well worth it! We all met the nicest and kindest mayor I’ve ever seen. He gave a speech in the Town Hall, then the Director of Education explained to all of us the Education System in Finland, where some of the most famous Universities in the world are located. I have to admit that I was surprised when I learned about their system to study at university from their homes without attending the lessons.

When we left that room, around 6:30 p.m. we saw a table full of drinks and delicious Finnish specialties set on a long table in the middle of the hall. Surprisingly, the Mayor had organized all that for us, Grundtvig project people.
After finishing the meal, at 08:00 p.m., we all run to the center of the city to hear another speech from the mayor but that time it was addressed to all the inhabitants of Huittinen, and there was a small fireworks display. Afterwards, some people went shopping but some others, like me, went to a local brewery to have some beer, chat with each other and have fun. What an amazing trip!
